Cingular spent $4 billion turning itself into one of the best known names in the country, a future-forward, dynamic brand with a strong connection to young consumers and a share lead in the wireless marketplace. This said, AT&T plans on discontinuing the Cingular brand and replace it with its own, and renaming it AT&T Wireless. WOW, sound familiar. That was the exact opposite of Cingular's plan, when they bought AT&T wireless a few years ago. Let's hope bigger is better!

AT&T's Parental Controls - Smart Limits
AT&T announced a comprehensive website of parental controls designed to educate and empower parents. AT&T Smart Limits brings together information for parental control features for the full suite of AT&T services -- wireless, wireline, high speed Internet access and video -- into one online portal. The site -- located at http://www.att.com/smartlimits -- provides information and directions on how to use parental controls for wireless, Internet, video and home phone services from AT&T. With features ranging from content controls to channel and phone-number blockers, parental control for these AT&T services help establish sensible boundaries around the technology children use on a daily basis.

Comment from Alex
This is an excerpt from a classmate of mine - Thanks Alex
I had AT&T wireless subscription since its inception. I love their customer service. Cingular has been another issue. I hope Cingular will incorporate AT&T's customer service policy. This merger also baffled me since AT&T owned 40% of Cingular while Bellsouth owned 60%, only to incorporate to entire pie all over again.
I heard that AT&T will offer DSL service for non-Bellsouth customers. Don't know how true this is (heard it in the hair salon from Cingular customer service representatives who were as clueless about their new owner as I).

The early winds of change of AT&T
Below is an image depicting the breakup and rebuilding of early company(s) path of AT&T. It shows how companies were created, bought, and sold, divide, and consolidated. But in the end AT&T will prevail as a dominate company in communications.
